Mary Marcella (Van Den Hemel) Schnorenberg passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Oak Terrace Memory Care in North Mankato, MN.
Mary was born on May 25,1933, in Ramona, SD. When she was a child her family moved to Dodge Center, MN and she graduated from Dodge Center Public Schools. While working at IBM in Rochester, MN, she met Francis Laverne Schnorenberg. They were married on November 26,1960, and lived in Rochester, Kasson, Hayfield, Mantorville, and North Mankato.
Mary was a 4-H leader for 20 years and a member of the Southeast Minnesota Sheep Producers Association, Inc. and served as SEMSPA Secretary and “Flock Talk” newsletter Editor. She served as the Secretary of the Fairview Cemetery Association of Hayfield, Inc. and she was a volunteer for many years with the AARP Driver Safety Program.
Mary was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, AARP, and MN 4-H Volunteer Association.
Mary is survived by her sons, Roger of Olivehurst, CA and Gary (Sandi) of Mankato, MN along with daughters, Lori (Mike) Hartley of Buffalo, MN, and Lisa (Jon) Christensen of Kasson, MN; grandchildren also survive her: Mathew (Emily) Schnorenberg, Kevin (Amanda) Schnorenberg, Steve (Jaydee) Hartley, Joe Hartley, Sarah Hartley, Tyler (fiancé Dani) Christensen, Ashley, and Wes Christensen. She also had two beautiful great-granddaughters, Adalyn and Amelia.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Francis.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities.
