Her chores are done. The calves have been fed. The last bottle is washed. Marian Saemrow died at home on September 8, 2024, at age 97. Marian Magdalena Marquardt was born on April 3, 1927 to William and Alma (Burzlaff) Marquardt in Dodge County, MN. She received her 8th grade education from a country school. In her younger years she raised chickens and sold eggs. She was also a piano player and would accompany services at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center.

On June 1, 1958, she married Herb Saemrow of Morristown, MN. Together they raised a family and dairy farmed until Herb’s death in 2007. The most important things in Marian’s life were Faith, Family and Farming. She was a devout Lutheran her entire life. When her children were young, she was adamant that each day end with a family devotion and saying the Lord’s Prayer together, a habit she continued until the day she died.

Her greatest pride and joy was working alongside her children and grandchildren on the family farm. She spent many selfless hours feeding calves, patching chore pants and making sandwiches that she would carry out to the farm in an ice cream pail. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman.

Those left to celebrate Marian’s life and divvy up her collection of empty cottage cheese containers are her children, Ron (Brenda), Gordon (Hindy), Keith (Jackie), Wayne (Abbie) all of Morristown and Ruth (Mark) Pfeifer of Owatonna.

For every birthday or milestone that a grandchild celebrated, Grandma would always give a card containing a one-dollar bill. Fondly remembering the love behind each dollar are Matt (Elsa), Tyler, Judd (girlfriend Anna), Jack, Jacy, Jobb, Lisa, Wyatt, Michael (girlfriend Marisa), Tommy, Jacob (Jess) and John. She loved getting to know her great grandson, Paxton Saemrow.

She is also survived by siblings Ron (Carol Ann) Marquardt, Helen Swendiman, Rachel Boyum and sister-in-law Arlinda Marquardt

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, John (Laura) Marquardt and Harry Marquardt; grandson, Alex Pfeifer and brothers-in-law, Charles Swendiman and Andrew Boyum.

We would like to thank Brighton Hospice and Pastor Palm for their compassionate care and ministry. A special thank you to her audiologist, Dr. Jennifer Reside, for understanding the importance of keeping Marian’s hearing aid functional.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, North Morristown on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Juan Palm officiating. Interment will be at Concordia Cemetery, North Morristown.

Visitation will be held at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Tuesday, September 10th from 4 to 8 p.m. and at church for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
