William A. Haefemeyer, age 85 of Faribault, MN passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Milestone Senior Living following an extended illness.
William Alvin, the son of Alvin and Lillian (Pautz) Haefemeyer was born on May 21, 1941 in Faribault, MN. He attended Dodge Center High School and graduated with the class of 1959. Following high school, Bill served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1962. On June 22, 1968 he was united in marriage to Marian Sexton in Waseca, MN. Bill worked at EF Johnson Company in Waseca for 25 years, starting in the drafting department, where he met his future wife, and then worked as an acoustical engineer. He was doing some of the early research for cellular communication. Bill also worked for over 40 years as a gunsmith at Ahlman’s Gun shop in Morristown, MN. Later he started his own business, Your Grandfather's Gun Shop at his home. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed time with his family, golfing, working on cars and tinkering with anything to see if he could fix it and get it to work. He was a member of the NRA and a former member of the Faribault Rifle and Pistol Club.
He is survived by his wife, Marian T. Haefemeyer of Faribault, MN; by his sons, Matthew W. Haefemeyer (Maria Yolanda Haefemeyer) of Warsaw, MN, Steven R. Haefemeyer of Warsaw, MN and Andrew A. Haefemeyer of Warsaw, MN; by four grandchildren, Jacob (Lyndsey) Haefemeyer, Joshua (Anna) Haefemeyer, Kaitlyn (Austin) Olson and Riley (Lyndsey) Haefemeyer; by three great grandchildren, Ella Haefemeyer, Greyson Olson and Walker Olson; by his sister, Carol Foxen of Warsaw, MN and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lillian Haefemeyer and his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Haefemeyer.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
